The Allahabad High Court has ordered the Uttar Pradesh government to conduct Gram Panchayat elections within three months. This decision comes after the term of current Gram Panchayats ended, leading to the appointment of administrators. Currently, the outgoing Gram Pradhans are serving as administrators. The court's division bench, comprising Justice Ajit Kumar and Justice Garima Prasad, reserved its verdict after a three-hour hearing before issuing the directive for fresh elections. This ruling addresses the long-pending issue of panchayat elections in the state.

इलाहाबाद हाई कोर्ट ने उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार को 3 महीने के अंदर ग्राम पंचायत चुनाव कराने का आदेश दिया है। यह फैसला मौजूदा ग्राम पंचायतों का कार्यकाल खत्म होने के बाद आया है, जिसके चलते प्रशासकों की नियुक्ति की गई थी। फिलहाल, बाहर जाने वाले ग्राम प्रधान प्रशासक के तौर पर काम कर रहे हैं। कोर्ट की डिवीजन बेंच, जिसमें जस्टिस अजीत कुमार और जस्टिस गरिमा प्रसाद शामिल थे, ने तीन घंटे की सुनवाई के बाद अपना फैसला सुरक्षित रख लिया था और फिर नए चुनावों के लिए निर्देश जारी किया। इस फैसले से राज्य में पंचायत चुनावों के लंबे समय से लंबित मुद्दे का समाधान हो गया है।
