Ex-BJP Councillors Join Congress Campaign in Goa, Citing Public Interest

Three former BJP councillors from the Mormugao Municipal Council, including ex-chairperson Leo Rodrigues and ex-deputy chairperson Ramchandra Kamat, participated in the Congress's Goy Rakhonn Yatra. They alleged the BJP government has failed to protect Goan interests and urged voters to defeat BJP candidates in the upcoming assembly elections. While clarifying they have not joined Congress, they stated their attendance was to understand public sentiment and concerns about alleged corruption. Narendra Sawaikar of the BJP criticized their participation, calling it a 'survival stunt' and asserting public faith in BJP governance.

मुरगांव नगर परिषद के तीन पूर्व बीजेपी पार्षदों, जिनमें पूर्व अध्यक्ष लियो रोड्रिग्स और पूर्व उप-अध्यक्ष रामचंद्र कामत शामिल हैं, ने कांग्रेस की 'गोवा राखोन्न यात्रा' में भाग लिया। उन्होंने आरोप लगाया कि बीजेपी सरकार गोवा के हितों की रक्षा करने में विफल रही है और मतदाताओं से आगामी विधानसभा चुनावों में बीजेपी उम्मीदवारों को हराने का आग्रह किया। यह स्पष्ट करते हुए कि उन्होंने कांग्रेस में शामिल नहीं हुए हैं, उन्होंने कहा कि उनकी उपस्थिति सार्वजनिक भावना और कथित भ्रष्टाचार के बारे में चिंताओं को समझने के लिए थी। बीजेपी के नरेंद्र सवाइकर ने उनकी भागीदारी की आलोचना की, इसे 'अस्तित्व का स्टंट' कहा और बीजेपी शासन में जनता के विश्वास पर जोर दिया।
