Maharashtra has launched its annual bird week, a seven-day event celebrating Indian naturalists Maruti Chitampalli and Salim Ali. In Nashik, the Nandur Madhmeshwar Bird Sanctuary is hosting activities like birdwatching trips, workshops, and documentary screenings to engage the public and educate youth about biodiversity. The wildlife department is also organizing scientific bird counts and habitat surveys. Kolhapur's festivities, held at Tabak Van Udyan, involved bird walks and heritage trails, highlighting the region's historical conservation practices dating back 400 years.
