Sebi Eases Investor Accreditation Norms, Lets Fund Managers Certify Status

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has simplified the accreditation process for investors in Alternative Investment Funds and portfolio management services. Fund and portfolio managers can now directly certify an investor's accreditation status, in addition to the existing route through agencies. This move aims to speed up the process for investors. The accreditation will be valid for three years and recognized across managers within the same corporate group. Sebi also clarified that non-resident Indians will be deemed accredited investors, though anti-money laundering rules still apply.

भारतीय प्रतिभूति और विनिमय बोर्ड (सेबी) ने अल्टरनेटिव इन्वेस्टमेंट फंड्स और पोर्टफोलियो मैनेजमेंट सर्विसेज में निवेशकों के लिए मान्यता प्रक्रिया को सरल बना दिया है। अब फंड और पोर्टफोलियो मैनेजर, मौजूदा एजेंसियों के माध्यम से होने वाले रास्ते के अलावा, सीधे निवेशक की मान्यता स्थिति को प्रमाणित कर सकते हैं। इस कदम का उद्देश्य निवेशकों के लिए प्रक्रिया को तेज करना है। यह मान्यता तीन साल के लिए वैध होगी और एक ही कॉर्पोरेट समूह के भीतर प्रबंधकों के बीच पहचानी जाएगी। सेबी ने यह भी स्पष्ट किया कि अनिवासी भारतीय (एनआरआई) मान्यता प्राप्त निवेशक माने जाएंगे, हालांकि एंटी-मनी लॉन्ड्रिंग नियम अभी भी लागू होंगे।
