The Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve, established in 2003, spans 225 square kilometers and safeguards native wildlife in a harsh desert environment. It is home to Arabian oryx and two gazelle species, Arabian and sand gazelles, which are adapted to survive with scarce resources. A 2024 survey recorded 684 Arabian gazelles and 181 sand gazelles, highlighting the reserve's success in providing a refuge. Conservation efforts, including captive breeding and reintroduction, have been crucial for species like the Arabian oryx, which was once near extinction.
