Former UFC referee John McCarthy has strongly criticized the decision made by referee Dan Miragliotta during the UFC Vegas 123 event. McCarthy believes the stoppage of Renato Moicano's fight in the third round was premature and influenced by a questionable stand-up call. Moicano had established dominant back control in the second round before the referee intervened, leading to the controversial finish. McCarthy's comments highlight ongoing debates about refereeing standards and fighter safety in mixed martial arts.
