Dalbir Singh, a local Ramlila performer who had just finished playing Ravana, became a real-life hero during the Amritsar train tragedy on October 19, 2018. As a speeding train struck spectators at Dussehra celebrations near Joda Phatak, Dalbir reportedly raised the alarm and rushed to help. He managed to push several people to safety before the train hit him. His selfless act, performed while dressed as the mythological antagonist, tragically cost him his life but saved others. Dalbir left behind his wife, infant daughter, and mother.

स्थानीय रामलीला कलाकार दलबीर सिंह, जिन्होंने हाल ही में रावण का किरदार निभाया था, 19 अक्टूबर 2018 को अमृतसर ट्रेन हादसे के दौरान असली जिंदगी के हीरो बन गए। जोड़ा फाटक के पास दशहरा समारोह में दर्शकों को एक तेज रफ्तार ट्रेन ने टक्कर मार दी थी। दलबीर ने कथित तौर पर खतरे की घंटी बजाई और मदद के लिए दौड़े। ट्रेन के उन्हें टक्कर मारने से पहले वह कई लोगों को सुरक्षित स्थान पर धकेलने में कामयाब रहे। पौराणिक खलनायक के वेश में किए गए उनके निस्वार्थ कार्य ने दुखद रूप से उनकी जान ले ली, लेकिन दूसरों की जान बचा ली। दलबीर अपनी पत्नी, नवजात बेटी और मां को पीछे छोड़ गए।
