Nurses in Tamil Nadu have suspended their hunger strike after a meeting with health secretary Darez Ahamed on Monday. The healthcare providers were protesting for a pay hike and permanent jobs. The union stated they would resume protests if the government fails to fulfill its assurances. Demands include a ₹45,000 monthly salary, job security, pending incentives, and promotions. The nurses, currently on contract with a salary of ₹21,000, highlighted that their job profile is similar to government staff nurses.

तमिलनाडु में नर्सों ने सोमवार को स्वास्थ्य सचिव दारेज़ अहमद के साथ बैठक के बाद अपनी भूख हड़ताल स्थगित कर दी है। स्वास्थ्य सेवा प्रदाता वेतन वृद्धि और स्थायी नौकरियों के लिए विरोध कर रहे थे। यूनियन ने कहा कि अगर सरकार अपने आश्वासनों को पूरा करने में विफल रहती है तो वे विरोध फिर से शुरू करेंगे। मांगों में ₹45,000 मासिक वेतन, नौकरी की सुरक्षा, लंबित प्रोत्साहन और पदोन्नति शामिल हैं। नर्सें, जो वर्तमान में ₹21,000 के वेतन पर अनुबंध पर हैं, ने बताया कि उनकी नौकरी का प्रोफाइल सरकारी स्टाफ नर्सों के समान है।
