Gujarat Plans to Harness 15,000 MCM Excess Dam Water for Industries
Times of India · business
Gujarat is initiating a plan to conserve and utilize approximately 15,000 million cubic metres (MCM) of water that currently flows into the Arabian Sea annually after its major reservoirs fill. This excess water, estimated at over 9,500 MCM from Narmada and significant amounts from Ukai and Kadhana, will be directed towards meeting the escalating demand from industries. The state anticipates a sharp rise in industrial water needs, particularly from emerging sectors like semiconductors and data centres, projecting demand to increase by 114% by 2050.
