Transparency International's 2025 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) has identified South Sudan and Somalia as the most corrupt countries globally, both scoring a low 9 out of 100. The index assesses perceived public-sector corruption across 182 nations. Venezuela, Yemen, and Libya also feature among the lowest-ranked countries, indicating deeply rooted institutional weaknesses. While these nations possess natural beauty and historical sites, security concerns and political unrest significantly impact their appeal and accessibility for international travellers.
