Civilians residing on defence land in Secunderabad Cantonment for generations are seeking freehold ownership and official property titles. The Cantonment Vikas Manch has urged NITI Aayog to recommend granting these rights, highlighting that residents lack formal ownership and are unable to repair dilapidated homes. The NGO proposes a four-point plan including excision of civilian areas and granting absolute freehold ownership. This move aims to enable residents to build safe homes and live with dignity, while also suggesting a clearer separation between civilian and military zones.

सिकंदराबाद कैंटोनमेंट में पीढ़ियों से रक्षा भूमि पर रहने वाले नागरिक फ्रीहोल्ड मालिकाना हक और संपत्ति के आधिकारिक पट्टे की मांग कर रहे हैं। कैंटोनमेंट विकास मंच ने नीति आयोग से इन अधिकारों को देने की सिफारिश करने का आग्रह किया है। उन्होंने बताया कि निवासियों के पास औपचारिक मालिकाना हक नहीं है और वे जर्जर घरों की मरम्मत भी नहीं करा पा रहे हैं। एनजीओ ने चार सूत्रीय योजना का प्रस्ताव दिया है, जिसमें नागरिक क्षेत्रों को अलग करना और पूर्ण फ्रीहोल्ड मालिकाना हक देना शामिल है। इस कदम का उद्देश्य निवासियों को सुरक्षित घर बनाने और सम्मान से जीने में सक्षम बनाना है, साथ ही नागरिक और सैन्य क्षेत्रों के बीच स्पष्ट अलगाव का सुझाव भी देना है।
