This declaration remains on the ECINET portal where the SIR exercise is ongoing. The move follows controversy and objections from Election Commissioners regarding the addition of the SIR declaration to the statutory Form 6, which is prescribed under the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960. Commissioners argued the form could not be altered without amending rules, calling the change unauthorized.
