Indian Rupee Weakens For Third Session Amidst Importer Demand And Foreign Outflows

Economic Times Markets · stocks

The Indian rupee declined for the third consecutive trading session, closing at 95.1850 against the US dollar, down 0.3% for the day. Importers increased their dollar purchases, while elevated oil prices and foreign outflows also pressured the local currency. Benchmark Brent crude has risen around 13% recently due to supply disruption concerns, potentially widening India's import bill and stoking inflation. Foreign investors have sold nearly $5 billion in Indian equities this month, adding to the rupee's weakness.
