Snares and Arrows Recovered Near Jharkhand-Chhattisgarh Border
Times of India · environment
Forest officials discovered approximately 200 feet of snares and five arrows in the Damchua forests, located along the Jharkhand-Chhattisgarh border. Palamu Tiger Reserve authorities suspect these were intended to trap wild animals for consumption during the Dussehra festival. Patrolling has been intensified in the Palamu Tiger Reserve's South division, particularly in areas frequented by wild boars and hares, to deter poachers. Despite a reduced forest guard strength due to ongoing training, hourly patrols are being conducted with varied timings to maintain surprise.
