Trivandrum Airport to Suspend Flights for 5 Hours

Trivandrum International Airport will temporarily suspend flight operations for five hours. This closure, from 4 PM to 9 PM, is to allow the traditional 'Arattu' procession of the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple to cross the runway. This centuries-old tradition, linked to the Travancore royal family, requires the procession to pass over the runway to reach Shangumukham beach for a sacred bath. Flights have been rescheduled twice annually for decades to accommodate this religious event, a practice that continues even after Adani Group took over airport management.
