British Airways Denies Boarding, Ordered to Pay PhD Scholar Rs 1.66 Lakh

Times of India · business

A Bengaluru consumer commission has found British Airways guilty of deficiency in service for refusing a boarding pass to PhD scholar Bhadrapriya Sivakumar at London's Heathrow Airport. Sivakumar was rerouted to London after her initial flight cancellation and was left stranded without a boarding pass for her connecting flight to Bengaluru. The commission ordered British Airways to refund the original ticket cost of Rs 1,38,945, pay Rs 25,000 in compensation, and Rs 2,000 for litigation costs. The airline's refusal left the scholar to purchase a new ticket on another airline.
