Bank strike from Sep 28-30 may shut branches

Bank customers may face disruptions for three days from September 28 to September 30, 2026, due to a proposed nationwide strike by the United Forum of Bank Unions. This strike, coupled with the weekend of September 26 and 27, could lead to five consecutive days of branch closures. Unions are demanding a five-day banking week, pension updates, and NPS to OPS options. The Finance Ministry will meet bank heads to ensure essential services continue.
