The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court has directed the Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary and Secretary to the Human Resources Management Department to ensure all government departments strictly follow prescribed timelines for handling representations. Justice B. Pugalendhi emphasized that failure to dispose of representations from retired employees, their families, or the public within the stipulated period, without sufficient cause, will be viewed seriously. The court highlighted that submitting representations is a constitutional right and persistent inaction amounts to dereliction of duty.

मद्रास हाई कोर्ट की मदुरै पीठ ने तमिलनाडु के मुख्य सचिव और मानव संसाधन प्रबंधन विभाग के सचिव को निर्देश दिया है कि वे सुनिश्चित करें कि सभी सरकारी विभाग आवेदनों को संभालने के लिए निर्धारित समय-सीमा का कड़ाई से पालन करें। जस्टिस बी. पुगलेन्धी ने जोर देकर कहा कि सेवानिवृत्त कर्मचारियों, उनके परिवारों या जनता की ओर से निर्धारित अवधि के भीतर पर्याप्त कारण के बिना आवेदनों का निपटान करने में विफलता को गंभीरता से लिया जाएगा। अदालत ने इस बात पर प्रकाश डाला कि आवेदन जमा करना एक संवैधानिक अधिकार है और लगातार निष्क्रियता कर्तव्य की अवहेलना के बराबर है।
