Govt Seeks Opposition Support For Lok Sabha Seat Increase Bill

Union minister Kiren Rijiju has urged the Opposition to support a constitutional amendment bill and a delimitation bill aimed at increasing Lok Sabha seats and implementing 33% reservation for women. A similar bill to raise the Lok Sabha ceiling to 850 seats and implement the women's quota was defeated in April. The government has engaged with various parties, including the Congress and Samajwadi Party, to build consensus.

केंद्रीय मंत्री Kiren Rijiju ने विपक्ष से लोकसभा सीटों को बढ़ाने और महिलाओं के लिए 33% आरक्षण लागू करने के उद्देश्य से एक संवैधानिक संशोधन विधेयक और परिसीमन विधेयक का समर्थन करने का आग्रह किया है। अप्रैल में लोकसभा की सीमा को 850 सीटों तक बढ़ाने और महिला आरक्षण लागू करने के लिए इसी तरह का एक विधेयक हार गया था। सरकार ने आम सहमति बनाने के लिए Congress और Samajwadi Party सहित विभिन्न दलों के साथ बातचीत की है।
