Learjet Crash: Pilots Landed Despite Unstable Approach Before Curfew

Pilots of a Learjet 45XR that crashed at Mumbai airport in September 2023 continued an unstabilised approach due to anxiety over a curfew on non-scheduled flights, according to the AAIB. All eight occupants were injured as the aircraft broke into two. The probable cause was the crew's decision to continue the approach in marginal weather and inappropriate handling, leading to an aerodynamic stall. The crew discussed the 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm charter flight ban, aiming to land by 5 pm, with the crash occurring around 5:02 pm.

AAIB के अनुसार, सितंबर 2023 में मुंबई हवाई अड्डे पर दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हुए लियरजेट 45XR के पायलटों ने नॉन-शेड्यूल्ड उड़ानों पर कर्फ्यू को लेकर चिंता के कारण एक अस्थिर अप्रोच जारी रखी। विमान के दो टुकड़ों में टूटने से सभी आठ यात्री घायल हो गए थे। संभावित कारण क्रू का खराब मौसम में अप्रोच जारी रखने का निर्णय और अनुचित हैंडलिंग था, जिससे एयरोडायनामिक स्टॉल हुआ। क्रू ने शाम 5:30 बजे से 7:30 बजे तक चार्टर उड़ान प्रतिबंध पर चर्चा की, जिसका लक्ष्य शाम 5 बजे तक उतरना था, और दुर्घटना लगभग 5:02 बजे हुई।
