Bulgarian Football Club President Iliyan Filipov Shot Dead in Plovdiv

Iliyan Filipov, the owner of Bulgarian football club Botev Plovdiv and a prominent businessman, was shot dead early Wednesday morning in Plovdiv. Filipov, who also headed one of Bulgaria's largest transport and logistics companies, PIMK, was killed at a property he owned. Police have blocked entry and exit points in the city and are actively pursuing leads. Botev Plovdiv has a history of success, winning the Bulgarian top-flight title twice and the Bulgarian Cup four times. Some former club officials and players have also had connections to Indian football.
