J&K Leaders Oppose Uniform Friday Sermons, Cite Religious Interference

Key political figures in Jammu & Kashmir, including Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, have strongly opposed the J&K Waqf Board's proposal for uniform Friday sermons. They allege this is an attempt by the BJP to interfere in Muslim religious affairs. Waqf Board chairperson Dr Darakhshan Andrabi, who belongs to the BJP, stated that religious scholars proposed the idea to address social issues like drug abuse.

जम्मू-कश्मीर के प्रमुख राजनीतिक नेताओं, जिनमें उमर अब्दुल्ला और महबूबा मुफ़्ती शामिल हैं, ने जम्मू-कश्मीर वक्फ बोर्ड के एक समान जुमे की नमाज़ के प्रस्ताव का कड़ा विरोध किया है। उन्होंने आरोप लगाया है कि यह बीजेपी का मुस्लिम धार्मिक मामलों में हस्तक्षेप करने का प्रयास है। वक्फ बोर्ड की अध्यक्ष डॉ. दाराखशां अंदराबी, जो बीजेपी से ताल्लुक रखती हैं, ने कहा कि धार्मिक विद्वानों ने नशीली दवाओं के दुरुपयोग जैसे सामाजिक मुद्दों को संबोधित करने के लिए यह विचार प्रस्तावित किया था।
