The Delhi High Court has ordered a tenant to vacate a shop and pay mesne profits for unauthorised occupation. The tenant claimed to have paid a Rs 10 lakh security deposit in cash between November 2016 and March 2017, which he argued reduced his monthly rent to Rs 2,900. However, he failed to provide any receipts or documentary evidence to support his claim. The landlords disputed this, stating the rent was Rs 29,000 per month. The court ruled against the tenant, emphasizing the importance of proper documentation in rental disputes.
