Maharashtra Crop Damage Assessment Nears Completion, Final Report Due Thursday

Maharashtra's agriculture minister Dattatray Bharne announced that approximately 75% of crop damage assessments in drought-hit areas are complete, with the final report expected by Thursday. The state is seeking substantial financial assistance from the central government to aid farmers facing severe losses due to damage to both kharif and rabi crops. Central teams have visited numerous villages to assess the situation. The government is also preparing for potential drinking water and fodder shortages and hopes for revised relief criteria under the NDRF.
