Domestic Funds Fuel Smallcaps in H1FY27 Amidst September Market Correction

Business Standard Markets · stocks

Indian equity markets experienced a broad-based correction in September, with foreign investors pulling out ₹2.32 trillion. However, domestic institutional investors remained strong, buying shares worth ₹3.89 trillion, which propelled smallcap and microcap stocks into bull markets during the first half of FY27. While largecap indices saw modest gains of 1.3% and 0.7% respectively, midcap and smallcap indices surged significantly. Experts caution that the midcap and smallcap segments may be entering bubble territory, urging investor caution amidst global economic uncertainties like rising oil prices and US bond yields.
