Witchcraft Suspicion Leads to Double Murder in Chhattisgarh; Three Family Members Arrested

Three members of a family have been arrested in Chhattisgarh's Rajnandgaon district for allegedly hacking a woman and her son to death and critically injuring her daughter. Police stated that the accused, including the mother, suspected the deceased woman of practising witchcraft, believing it caused recurring illnesses within the family. The victims were attacked with a sharp weapon inside their home. The accused also allegedly attempted to destroy evidence by burning their clothes and the weapon's handle. This incident follows another witchcraft-related killing in Raipur district.

छत्तीसगढ़ के राजनांदगांव जिले में एक परिवार के तीन सदस्यों को एक महिला और उसके बेटे की कथित तौर पर हत्या करने और उसकी बेटी को गंभीर रूप से घायल करने के आरोप में गिरफ्तार किया गया है। पुलिस ने बताया कि मां सहित आरोपियों को शक था कि मृतक महिला जादू-टोना करती है, जिससे परिवार में बार-बार बीमारी हो रही थी। पीड़ितों पर घर के अंदर धारदार हथियार से हमला किया गया था। आरोपियों ने कथित तौर पर अपने कपड़े और हथियार के हैंडल जलाकर सबूत मिटाने की भी कोशिश की। यह घटना रायपुर जिले में जादू-टोना से संबंधित एक अन्य हत्या के बाद हुई है।
