Captive-bred Great Indian Bustards to be released

Rajasthan's forest department plans to release captive-bred Great Indian Bustards into the Thar desert during Wildlife Week next month. The critically endangered state bird, locally known as Godawan, is the focus of a major conservation program. Two sites in Jaisalmer district, Ramdevra and Sudashri, have been identified for the release, with Ramdevra being the more likely initial site. This initiative marks a significant step in the rewilding phase of the conservation project.

राजस्थान का वन विभाग अगले महीने वन्यजीव सप्ताह के दौरान थार रेगिस्तान में बंदी प्रजनन वाले ग्रेट इंडियन बस्टर्ड (गोडावण) को छोड़ने की योजना बना रहा है। यह गंभीर रूप से लुप्तप्राय राज्य पक्षी एक बड़े संरक्षण कार्यक्रम का केंद्र है। जैसलमेर जिले में रामदेवरा और सुदाश्री दो स्थानों की पहचान की गई है, जिसमें रामदेवरा प्रारंभिक स्थल होने की अधिक संभावना है। यह पहल संरक्षण परियोजना के पुनर्वनीकरण चरण में एक महत्वपूर्ण कदम है।
