Delhi HC to Hear Plea Against Jantar Mantar Protest Site Closure

The Delhi High Court will hear petitions on Tuesday concerning the closure of Jantar Mantar as a designated protest site and alleged assaults on demonstrators. A lawyer argued that peaceful demonstrations are being curtailed without an alternative venue. The Supreme Court is also seized of the matter. Meanwhile, Delhi Police de-notified Jantar Mantar and designated Ramlila Maidan, Burari Ground, and CBD Ground as new protest venues. The court will also hear a separate plea for an investigation into alleged assaults on protesters.
