Pune Roads Get Race-Ready, But Commuters Question Routine Maintenance

Pune is preparing its roads for the Pune Grand Tour cycling race in January 2027, prompting civic agencies to undertake repairs and improvements. The Pune Municipal Corporation plans to upgrade 84 km of roads along the expanded 135 km race route, including resurfacing and footpath repairs. However, past experiences show that roads improved for events were later dug up for utility works, leading to deterioration.
