Kochi Corporation Faces Increased Biomining Costs After Court Directive
The Hindu · india
The Kochi Corporation must now biomine an additional 1.26 lakh tonnes of scientifically capped legacy waste, following a Kerala High Court directive. Judges P. Gopinath and Bechu Kurian Thomas visited the Brahmapuram waste treatment plant and ordered the inclusion of this capped waste in the biomining process. This decision adds to the financial burden, as the total legacy waste was estimated at 3.22 lakh metric tonnes by NIT-Calicut.
