The BCCI confirmed the injury, with the medical team monitoring his progress. Kishan's absence opens the door for 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi to potentially make his debut in the playing eleven. Batting coach Sitanshu Kotak indicated Suryavanshi is a strong contender to replace Kishan.
