India's food regulator, FSSAI, has issued notices to Gemini Edibles & Fats India Ltd, BigBasket, and Flipkart for allegedly making misleading health claims on rice bran oil. The product, 'Freedom Cooking Rice Bran Oil,' was promoted with claims about reducing bad cholesterol and increasing good cholesterol, which are not permitted under current regulations. FSSAI also noted that Gemini Edibles & Fats India may have been selling food products online without a valid central license for e-commerce.
