However, soil-borne pathogens pose a hidden threat, often originating from seeds, contaminated soil, or irrigation water, especially in poorly drained nursery beds. Serious diseases like damping-off, root and collar rot, and Fusarium wilt can devastate entire crops. Experts advise preventive measures before planting, including selecting well-drained land, raising nursery beds, and soil solarization. Using beneficial microbes like Trichoderma and crop rotation are also recommended to protect marigold yields.
