Keralam Govt Halts DySP Reinstatement After Protests

The Keralam government has halted its decision to reinstate Deputy Superintendent of Police A. Umesh, who was suspended for alleged sexual assault of a woman in police custody. Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala ordered the withdrawal of the reinstatement following strong opposition from within the Congress party in Kozhikode. The officer, previously serving as Vadakara DySP, faced allegations of misconduct and accepting bribes. The Home Department had previously cited misuse of official position and described the alleged misconduct as a serious offence.

केरल सरकार ने पुलिस हिरासत में एक महिला के कथित यौन उत्पीड़न के आरोप में निलंबित किए गए डिप्टी सुपरिंटेंडेंट ऑफ पुलिस (DySP) ए. उमेश की बहाली के अपने फैसले को फिलहाल रोक दिया है। कोझिकोड में कांग्रेस पार्टी के भीतर से कड़े विरोध के बाद गृह मंत्री रमेश चेन्निथला ने बहाली वापस लेने का आदेश दिया। इससे पहले वडकारा डीएसपी के पद पर तैनात इस अधिकारी पर कदाचार और रिश्वतखोरी के आरोप लगे थे। गृह विभाग ने पहले आधिकारिक पद के दुरुपयोग का हवाला दिया था और कथित कदाचार को एक गंभीर अपराध बताया था।
