Vikalanga Colony Rehabilitation Project Stalled Over Beneficiary List

Times of India · india

A housing project in Thiruvananthapuram aimed at rehabilitating residents of the nearly five-decade-old Vikalanga Colony remains stalled. Despite administrative and technical approvals, funds sanctioned, and a contractor agreement, work has not begun. The city corporation plans an all-party meeting to finalize the beneficiary list, as around 68 of the initial 96 families still reside there. Residents are also demanding larger housing units than the current design of 550 sq ft, with some requesting a minimum of 600 sq ft.
