Delhi's Air Quality Remains Poor Amidst Seasonal Deterioration

Hindustan Times · environment

Delhi's air quality index (AQI) stood at 223 on Friday, remaining in the 'poor' category. The minimum temperature was recorded at 19°C, slightly above the seasonal average. This deterioration is attributed to the impending winter and meteorological conditions that trap pollutants. Air quality is expected to stay poor until at least October 25, with no immediate improvement anticipated. Stubble burning contributed significantly to PM2.5 levels, while the transport sector remains the largest pollution source.
