Chhattisgarh's Khaira village in Rajnandgaon district has become the first in India to achieve 100 percent rooftop solar coverage under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. All 141 households in the village are now equipped with 2-kilowatt solar power systems, totaling approximately 282 kW of installed capacity. These systems were provided at no cost to residents through central and state subsidies, along with CSR funding. The initiative aims to significantly reduce monthly electricity expenses for families, offering financial relief and easing concerns over utility bills for beneficiaries.
