The department claimed the property was sold for Rs 3.30 crore, with Rs 1.70 crore received in cash, contradicting the registered sale deed of Rs 1.60 crore. The taxman relied on WhatsApp messages and Excel spreadsheets to support its claim.

आईटीएटी, दिल्ली ने एक करदाता को उस मामले में राहत दी है जहाँ आयकर विभाग ने संपत्ति की बिक्री में अघोषित नकद राशि का आरोप लगाया था। विभाग ने दावा किया कि संपत्ति 3.30 करोड़ रुपये में बेची गई थी, जिसमें से 1.70 करोड़ रुपये नकद मिले, जो कि 1.60 करोड़ रुपये के पंजीकृत बिक्री विलेख के विपरीत था। कर अधिकारी ने अपने दावे का समर्थन करने के लिए WhatsApp संदेशों और Excel स्प्रेडशीट पर भरोसा किया।
