Singapore Airlines has been ordered to pay Rs 50,000 plus litigation expenses to a passenger whose family, including an 11-month-old baby, did not receive adequate food on a 15-hour Delhi-Melbourne flight in March 2020. The Punjab State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission ruled that airlines cannot escape responsibility for providing regular meals, even if special meals are not requested. The commission found the airline liable for deficiency in service, rejecting its defense that no special meal request was made.
