India Joins 14 Nations Pushing Global Action on Excess Industrial Capacity

India and 13 other countries have jointly called for coordinated global action to curb excess industrial production, citing market distortions and imbalances. Issued after a meeting in Washington on the sidelines of OECD Trade Committee deliberations, the statement urges all economies to eliminate structural excess capacity and production by ending non-market policies. Signatories include Argentina, Australia, Canada, the EU, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Poland, Turkiye, the UK, and the US. This initiative aims to address issues that can cripple domestic industries and displace local production.
