The New York Giants plan to start Jameis Winston at quarterback for a second consecutive week, even after acquiring J.J. McCarthy from the Minnesota Vikings. McCarthy was brought in as insurance with starter Jaxson Dart sidelined for the season. Head coach John Harbaugh expressed confidence in Winston's growth and the team's ability to build around his strengths. Winston has thrown for 229 yards with no touchdowns and one interception in two games this season. The team also released veteran wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to make roster space.
