Houthis Seize Key Yemeni Town Turbah, Advance Toward Strategic City Taiz

Business Standard · world

Houthi rebels have captured the town of Turbah in southwestern Yemen, a significant gain on their advance toward the provincial capital of Taiz. The town's fall occurred shortly before the internationally recognized government announced a major military operation against the rebels. Turbah is situated on a crucial road linking Taiz with the port city of Aden. This development escalates the conflict, reviving Yemen's civil war after a four-year ceasefire and potentially hindering government forces' ability to reinforce Taiz.
