The Hindu · india

A disability rights group, Doctors with Disabilities: Agents of Change, has urged the Central government to classify augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices and prostheses as essential assistive products. The group argues that their current categorisation as specialised assistive products could create uncertainty regarding insurance coverage and public financing. They submitted a representation to the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and ICMR.
