US Attorney General Todd Blanche announced on Friday that a criminal investigation into former Federal Reserve chair Jerome Powell will not be reopened. This decision follows a government watchdog report that cleared Powell of criminal wrongdoing concerning a building renovation project. While the report cited poor management, it found no illegal activity. President Donald Trump had previously demanded Powell's resignation and asked the Justice Department to review the findings. The renovation project's costs significantly increased, but the Attorney General stated he is satisfied with the watchdog's report.
