Kerala Health Minister Rules Out In-Patient Facilities Below Taluk Level

Muraleedharan has stated that providing in-patient facilities in healthcare institutions below the taluk level is not feasible due to significant investment requirements in human resources and infrastructure. He was responding to a motion to reinstate IP facilities at two family health centres, Pozhiyoor and Chenkal. While acknowledging Pozhiyoor's historical IP facility, the minister agreed to consider reinstating it as a special case due to its coastal service area. The decision reflects a policy to concentrate resources at higher-level institutions.

केरल के स्वास्थ्य मंत्री के. मुरलीधरन ने कहा है कि तालुकों से नीचे के स्वास्थ्य संस्थानों में इन-पेशेंट (अस्पताल में भर्ती) की सुविधा देना संभव नहीं है। इसके लिए इंसानी ताकत और इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर में बहुत ज्यादा पैसा लगाना पड़ेगा। उन्होंने यह बात दो फैमिली हेल्थ सेंटरों, पोझियूर और चेंकल में आईपी सुविधा फिर से शुरू करने के प्रस्ताव पर कही। मंत्री ने माना कि पोझियूर में पहले आईपी सुविधा थी और तटीय इलाके में सेवा देने के कारण इसे खास मामला मानकर फिर से शुरू करने पर विचार करेंगे। यह फैसला बड़े संस्थानों में संसाधन जुटाने की नीति को दिखाता है।
