56-Year Durga Puja Tradition Unites Ghosh Family in Chatra
Times of India · lifestyle
For over five decades, the Ghosh family in Chatra district has maintained a unique Durga Puja tradition, transforming the festival into a cherished homecoming. Started in 1970 by Birendra Nath Ghosh, the puja is entirely family-funded, unlike community celebrations. Preparations begin months in advance, involving local artisans for idols and special items from Kolkata. A Bengali priest from Gaya and dhakis from West Bengal enhance the festivities.
