RML Hospital in Delhi has successfully conducted its first Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) surgery. The complex procedure, overseen by Dr. Sharad Pandey, was performed on a 55-year-old government official from Nepal suffering from Parkinson's disease. DBS involves implanting thin electrodes in specific brain areas to regulate abnormal electrical activity, functioning like a pacemaker for the brain. This advanced treatment significantly reduces reliance on Parkinson's medications and offers a more affordable alternative to private hospitals, where costs can exceed ₹30 lakh.

दिल्ली के RML अस्पताल ने सफलतापूर्वक अपनी पहली डीप ब्रेन स्टिमुलेशन (DBS) सर्जरी की है। यह जटिल प्रक्रिया, डॉ. शरद पांडे की देखरेख में, पार्किंसंस रोग से पीड़ित नेपाल के एक 55 वर्षीय सरकारी अधिकारी पर की गई थी। DBS में मस्तिष्क की असामान्य विद्युत गतिविधि को नियंत्रित करने के लिए विशिष्ट मस्तिष्क क्षेत्रों में पतले इलेक्ट्रोड लगाए जाते हैं, जो मस्तिष्क के लिए पेसमेकर की तरह काम करते हैं। यह उन्नत उपचार पार्किंसंस की दवाओं पर निर्भरता को काफी कम करता है और निजी अस्पतालों की तुलना में एक अधिक किफायती विकल्प प्रदान करता है, जहाँ लागत ₹30 लाख से अधिक हो सकती है।
