A woman in Dehradun reported her iPhone stolen on September 12, but the incident took an unusual turn when the alleged thief began messaging her family. The messages, sent via SMS and WhatsApp, directly requested the iPhone's password. The owner visited the police station late at night but was reportedly asked to return the next morning. She provided screenshots, CCTV footage, and a suspect's photograph, questioning the lack of immediate action. She also alleged multiple other thefts in the neighbourhood, with similar suspects appearing in CCTV footage.

देहरादून में एक महिला ने 12 सितंबर को अपना आईफोन चोरी होने की रिपोर्ट दर्ज कराई, लेकिन घटना ने तब एक असामान्य मोड़ ले लिया जब कथित चोर ने उसके परिवार को मैसेज करना शुरू कर दिया। एसएमएस और व्हाट्सएप के माध्यम से भेजे गए संदेशों में सीधे आईफोन का पासवर्ड मांगा गया था। मालिक देर रात पुलिस स्टेशन गई लेकिन कथित तौर पर उसे अगली सुबह लौटने के लिए कहा गया। उसने तुरंत कार्रवाई की कमी पर सवाल उठाते हुए स्क्रीनशॉट, सीसीटीवी फुटेज और संदिग्ध की तस्वीर प्रदान की। उसने पड़ोस में कई अन्य चोरियों का भी आरोप लगाया, जिसमें सीसीटीवी फुटेज में समान संदिग्ध दिखाई दे रहे थे।
