The Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check unit has debunked a viral social media document claiming the government declared every Saturday a public holiday for public sector banks. PIB stated that the purported Gazette notification, attributed to the finance ministry, is fake and no such directive has been issued. This misinformation comes amid ongoing discussions about a five-day banking week, with bank unions having deferred a strike after an understanding with the Indian Banks' Association to examine the demand through a committee.
