Multi-Asset Funds Lose Winning Edge; FPIs Return to Indian Equity Market
Business Standard Markets · stocks
Multi-asset funds, once lauded as all-weather performers, are now facing challenges, delivering an average one-year return of only 1.4 percent, with many schemes showing negative returns. This decline is attributed to persistent weakness in equity and debt markets, alongside a correction in precious metal prices, eroding their diversification benefits. Meanwhile, foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) are showing tentative signs of returning to Indian equities after weeks of selling. Experts suggest attractive valuations and improving domestic growth prospects are contributing factors, though caution remains about a sustained trend reversal.
